Donegal rally crews had a very successful night navigation trial in Cavan at the weekend.
An impressive eleven Donegal teams started the event on Saturday night in Crosskeys.
Based in the same HQ as last year, COC and ACOC, Sean McConnell and Anthony McDonald, laid on a challenging 85-mile event for round three of the Squealing Pig Border Navigation Championship.
There were a total of 44 entries received with number 42 left blank in memory of the late Craig Breen, who competed this event last year with Navigator James Fulton.
In the classes, the Donegal Town pairing Darragh Kelly/Eamonn Doherty claimed 2nd semi-expert while Glenswilly/Drumkeen men, Niall McDaid/Ciaran Coyle took 3rd. Another Donegal town pair, Eoin Quinn/Patrick Masterson, finished 3 rd novice with The Letterkenny/Carndonagh team of Marty Gallagher/Darren Curran taking victory in the beginner’s class.
The next round of the squealing pig border navigation takes place in Monaghan on March 9th with COC David McCrudden in charge of the route before the final round hosted by Donegal Motor club on March 23 rd
