A driver was arrested this morning for speeding at a dangerous 167kph in a 100kph zone.

The detection was made on the N13 earlier today during a speed check operation by the Buncrana Roads Policing Unit.

The motorist was subsequently charged to appear in court at a later date.

Gardaí are reminding motorists of the dangers of speeding and the importance of adhering to the speed limit. Speeding is a major contributing factor to road collisions and can have devastating consequences.

“Never risk your own life and the lives of others by speeding. Slow down,” a spokesperson said.
