The new multi million euro Ballyshannon Community Hospital will finally open today with 26 residents set to move in.
The facility was due to open two weeks ago, however, it remained closed due to a dispute between nurses’ unions and the HSE.
But, an agreement was reached following planned meetings at the Workplace Relations Commission.
Today sees the first phase of opening.
The €36.7 million hospital has 52 long stay beds, 20 short stay beds for convalescence, rehabilitation, respite and palliative care, eight Dementia specific assessment beds and a Day Hospital Service.
The second phase of opening will include additional beds.
