An incredible 24 hour row has raised thousands of euro for motor neurone disease research, as part of Donegal man Adrian Harkin’s charity efforts.
Adrian Harkin was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2022, and has embarked on planning an ambitious “Summit 2 Sea” charity challenge – where teams across the country will climb the highest peaks in every county on the island of Ireland, while at the same time a relay of rowers will attempt to row around Ireland.
An avid rower, Adrian himself will take on the final leg of the row which is currently scheduled for April.
Ahead of that massive challenge, a number of rowers in Moville took it upon themselves to take on their own gargantuan effort to help raise funds for Adrian’s “Summit 2 Sea For MND” fundraiser.
Five teams of four rowers, organised by local gym owner Paul McGowan, took on a 24 hour continuous row this weekend.
Starting at 10am yesterday morning, they were not only racing against each other, but also for a fantastic cause.
As they completed their round-the-clock row, over €4.000 had been raised by the rowers for Summit 2 Sea and the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association.
This will be added to the €4,500 that has already been raised by Adrian in recent weeks.
