The Fleming Norwest Group is currently wishing to employ an Operations Manager at their site in St.Johnston, Donegal to join their dynamic, innovative and hardworking team.
The FNW Group is a group of companies all based in the North of Ireland consisting of Fleming Steel, Fleming Doors, and Fleming Coatings based in St.Johnston Co.Donegal and Norwest Roofing Systems based in Omagh. In addition, the group has recently acquired BES Solutions based in Newtonabbey and LR Doors in Limavady.
The role:
The Operations Manager will be responsible for the operational functions of planning, directing and coordinating as well as maintaining and upgrading plant and machinery at the Donegal Site. In addition, the Operations Manager is responsible for working with Senior management to maintain and enhance Health and Safety, Training and Inventory control.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
- Coordination and Supervision – Coordinate, manage and monitor the workings of various departments in the organizsation.
- Best Practices – Improve processes and policies in support of organisational goals. Formulate and implement departmental, and organisational policies and procedures to maximise output. Monitor adherence to rules, regulations and procedures.
- Human Resources – Plan the use of human resources. Organise recruitment and placement of required staff. Establish organisational structures. Delegate tasks and accountabilities. Establish work schedules. Supervise staff. Monitor and evaluate performance.
- Production – Coordinate and monitor the work of various departments involved in production, warehousing and distribution of goods. Monitor performance and implement improvements. Ensure quality of products. Manage quality and quantity of employee productivity. Manage maintenance of equipment and machinery. Provide technical support where necessary.
- Research and Development – Assist in the development of an innovative research and development infrastructure within the business.
- Strategic Input – Liaison with top management. Assist in the development of strategic plans for operational activity. Implement and manage operational plans.
- Financial – Review financial statements and data. Utilise financial data to improve profitability. Assist to prepare and control operational budgets. Control inventory. Plan effective strategies for the financial well being of the company.
Education and Experience
The formal education and experience for this role can vary. However the following are commonly required dependent on experience:
- Educated to third level standard ideally in engineering and/or operational management.
- Industry relevant production experience
- Knowledge and experience in organisational effectiveness and operations management
- Knowledge of business and management principles and practices
- Knowledge of human resource principles and practices
- Knowledge of project management principles and practices
- Information technology skills
Remuneration
€40-€50,000 Salary (Dependent on experience, expertise and negotiated full benefits package).
