We have just been given a sneak preview of what Óstán Ghaoth Dobhair will look like if plans for a €15 million refurbishment get the green light.
The owners of the iconic beachfront west Donegal hotel have formally submitted plans with Donegal County Council for the ambitious project. They also confirmed to Donegal Daily that the Óstán, and its sister hotel The Seaview, both will ‘100%’ reopen as tourism ventures.
Vesada Private Ltd has already started work on the redevelopment of the Seaview which is planned to return as a hotel and wedding venue.
The same company revealed to us artist impressions for the landmark Óstán Ghaoth Dobhair.
The proposed development will include a 250 seater wedding venue/ballroom on the roof of the current hotel. Eighty new bedrooms will also be constructed where the old ballroom was located and a new spa will be added.
A spokesman for Vesada said work would begin within nine months of planning permission being granted and that construction would take up to a year.
