An inspirational Donegal teenager who will follow his dream of working on boats is to be featured on RTÉ News bulletins tonight.
Seán Boyle (16) from Arranmore Island has Down Syndrome and recently completed his Bord Iascaigh Mhara Basic Training Course, meaning that he is now able to work on a boat or ferry.
The training to be certified with a BIM safety card includes a number of tasks, including jumping into a pool with safety gear, going on a life raft on his own and doing elementary first aid.
Seán got his love of the sea from his family, with his father, John being a fisherman, and two of his brothers having also completed their training to work on the seas.
As a Transition Year student, he now plans to do his TY work experience on the local Arranmore ferry.
Tune into the RTÉ Six One News this evening, and again on Nine News, to see a report from Eileen Magnier on the Donegal teenager.
