A Donegal girl involved in a car crash has been awarded €5,000 in compensation.
The teenager suffered what was classified as a ‘minor back injury’ in the accident.
Mr Ivan Toner BL, for the claimant, outlined the case at Letterkenny District Court.
The girl was 14 at the time of the accident in November 2021.
She was a passenger when another vehicle, being driven by a respondent in the case, collided with the car in which she was travelling.
The claimant was in a car turning off a road when the other vehicle came on the inside. The car in which the girl was travelling spun 90 degrees, Mr Toner said.
The girl was wearing a seat belt at the time of impact, Mr Toner said.
When examined by a GP, the girl was suffering from back ache, particularly in her lower back and attended physio on three occasions.
Mr Toner told the court that it was his opinion that €5,000 was a ‘good offer in the circumstances’ and he was recommending the acceptance.
The €5,000 offer included €150 of special damages to cover three physiotherapy sessions.
Judge Vincent Deane endorsed the acceptance of the offer.
