Some of Donegal’s tastiest takeaways celebrated award success at the Irish Takeaway Awards last night.
Prizes for Ireland’s Best Chef, Best Coffee Cart and Chinese Takeaway of the Year were all scooped by popular local businesses.
The big winner on the night was Chandpur Donegal Town, which won Best Chef for Rana Miah, second place Indian Takeaway of the Year, and overall Vegetarian Takeaway of the Year.
There were two local businesses brewing success in the Coffee Cart of the Year category. Capall Mara in Killybegs (pictured) won first place, with McQ’s Brews in Glenties taking third place.
Dumpling Chao in Letterkenny was crowned Chinese Takeaway of the Year 2024.
Burrito Loco in Letterkenny wrapped up the bronze ‘Burrito of the Year’ award.
Bronze prize for Café of the Year was picked up by the Old Stone in Donegal Town.
The bronze award for Sweet Treat of the Year went to Little Mamma’s Gelato in Donegal Town.
Melly’s Café in Killybegs was Highly Commended for Burger of the Year.
Speaking at the awards ceremony in Tullamore, Shane Smith, Managing Director of NI Media who run the awards said; “For everyone who is here tonight the fact that you have reached this room reflects on your commitment to your industry and more so to your own standards within your business.
“Being a finalist stands testament to the demands of the palates of diners across the island. We have had our inspectors out in force over the past number of months and they have chosen the businesses in this room to be amongst the absolute best that Ireland and Northern Ireland have to offer.”
