The husband of a young St. Johnston woman battling leukaemia has issued heartfelt thanks to the community for their surge in support.
Mum of four Patrice Mc Crossan (née Rodgers) discovered she had acute myeloid leukemia on 27th January. The 32-year-old was rushed to Galway for treatment days later.
Since the news broke, the local East Donegal community has shown an incredible outpouring of support for Patrice, her husband Gary, and their four children aged between 7 months and 9 years.
“This news shook our family to the core,” shared Gary in a heartfelt message posted online. “But in the midst of this difficult journey, we have been overwhelmed by the love, support, and kindness that has surrounded us.”
A GoFundMe campaign set up by a family friend surpassed its initial goal, reaching €26,245 within just five days. Additionally, the McCrossan family has received countless messages of support, prayers, and offers of practical help.
“With four young kids to care for, the road ahead seems daunting,” Gary acknowledged. “But we draw strength from the love and solidarity of our community.”
He added that Patrice is “the strongest person I know,” and is facing her battle with courage and determination.
“We are all united in knowing that we will overcome this obstacle together.”
Gary wrote a personal message of thanks to everyone yesterday:
“To all of you who have reached out, offered prayers, sent messages of encouragement, donated, and lent a helping hand in any way, we cannot thank you enough. Your generosity and unwavering support has been our rock during this challenging time.”
“From the depths of our hearts, thank you for being a beacon of light in our darkest moments. We are eternally grateful for each and every one of you.”
