Gardaí in Donegal are urging the public to watch out for a fake customs charges text claiming to be from An Post.
The message, received at random, asks a person to pay customs charges for an upcoming delivery.
However, gardaí are reminding people that An Post will never send a message containing a link.
Customers should never ever click on any link asking for payment or delivery a customs charge. Such fees should only ever be checked and paid directly through anpost.com or at any local post office.
“Do not click on the link! Block the number and ignore the message. Please be scam aware!,” a spokesperson said.
An Post has created a handy check list for customers to use when they do receive a text or email. Find more here: https://www.anpost.com/Security
