Starting today and across this Bank Holiday weekend, Gardaí in Donegal will be conducting high-visibility checkpoints across the county.
Gardaí are targeting what they call the “four key lifesaver offences” that drivers often commit on the roads.
These include speeding, driving under the influence of drink or drugs, people not wearing their seatbelts, and the use of mobile phones behind the wheel.
In a statement, Donegal Gardaí said on social media that “we appeal to all road users to make responsible decisions this weekend and always in relation to road safety. In doing so you will help save lives.”
