A man drove around Letterkenny before attacking a car with a hurley in the car park of the garda station.
Lance Friel was before Letterkenny District Court in connection with the incident.
Sergeant Maurice Doyle told the court that the incident occurred at 11.30pm on August 3, 2023.
Sergeant Doyle outlined that Friel drove a black Volkswagen Passat around Letterkenny and drove to the car park at Letterkenny Garda Station.
There, he smashed the rear passenger side door of a car belonging to a woman using a hurley.
Friel was charged that he caused damage to a passenger window of a car belonging to someone else and that he produced an offensive weapon, namely a hurley, in the course of a dispute.
The 37-year-old, of Mullagh Ban, Ballaghderg, Letterkenny, made admissions when arrested by gardai.
Solicitor for the accused, Mr Patsy Gallagher, said his client ‘accepts the act and apologises it’. He said another person involved ‘has been dealt with more substantive matters’.
“These charges are serious on paper, but there is a story,” Mr Gallagher said.
Friel, who has 10 previous convictions, was fined €200 for the act of criminal damage and he was given six months to pay. The other charge was marked as taken into consideration by Judge Ciaran Liddy.
