The Stormont Government in the North is to get up and running again.
It follows reports by DUP leader Jeffrey Donaldson that he had been given a “decisive” mandate to move forward after his party agreed to endorse a deal to restore power-sharing.
The move follows a two year boycott of Stormont.
The announcement was made at 1am this morning after a meeting of the DUP party executive last more than five hours.
Protestors gathered outside the meeting in Lisburn claiming the DUP had sold them out.
Northern Ireland Secretary Chris Heaton-Harris called the DUP move “a welcome and significant step”, adding that parties entitled to form an executive will meet later today.
Parts of Donaldson’s address were leaked to loyalist blogger Jamie Bryson, who posted details on X.
