A kindhearted Inishowen man has donated more than €10,000 to three local charities after he successfully climbed 100 peaks on the peninsula last year.
Bernard McConway called the fundraiser the ‘Inishowen 100 Peaks’ challenge and handed over the money to his chosen organisations at the weekend. He chose three charities who will benefit from his ambitious challenge: Lough Swilly RNLI, Insight Inishowen and the Donegal Mountain Rescue Team.
“I’m delighted to announce the total of my Inishowen 100 Peaks fundraiser amounted to €10,452. This was divided between the three charities who each received €3,484,” Bernard said.
He has also published a new book containing a selection of photographs from his challenge.
“There was a fantastic turnout at the launch of my book and brilliant feedback received about the book. It was a pleasure to have Kathy Donaghy with me to launch it,” he added.
“It was a very enjoyable and memorable night with brilliant music provided by Michaela Harkin and followed by the wonderful DJ Daithi.”
He will have the book available to buy in a number of locations across Inishowen, or directly from Bernard himself.
