Letterkenny Pipe Band once again hosted a successful Burns Night fundraising event on Saturday, January 27th, at Conwal Parish Hall. The event drew a crowd of 240 enthusiastic attendees, packing the hall to capacity.
The evening was a vibrant celebration of Scottish culture, featuring a diverse program of musical performances and a traditional Scottish supper.
Performances on the night included the Donegal Youth Orchestra with conductor Vincent Kennedy, the Letterkenny Ukulele Orchestra, singer Amy Meehan, multi-instrumentalist Tara Howley, MCs Noel Sweeney and Fergus Cleary and the Pipe Band. Some of the band’s newest recruits took to the stage last night with three 9–10-year-old beginners joining the band with practice chanters for their debut performance after only 3 months of learning.
The Letterkenny Pipe Band expressed their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who attended the event, recognising their unwavering support as essential to the band’s continued success. The band’s expenses, including uniforms, instruments, and event transportation, amount to over €25,000 annually, making fundraising events like Burns Night crucial for their sustainability.
The band also extended their appreciation to the volunteers who made the event possible. From preparing the traditional supper to managing the sound system and assisting with performances, their contributions were essential to the event’s success.
