A new report in today’s Irish Independent claims that only 43 affected homes in Donegal have received the full mica redress grant amount.
The figures were obtained by Sinn Fein Housing Spokesperson Eoin Ó Broin, and they show that between Donegal and Mayo only 54 applicants have fully completed the grant process out of a total of 1,880 applicants.
Defective homeowners have continued calls on the Government to revise the scheme, due to many homeowners being unable to afford the upfront costs for works not covered by the grant scheme, such as planning, engineering and demolition fees as well as the cost of fitting rebuilt homes with their interior furnishing such as flooring.
