Donegal 1-04 v 1-08 Kildare
Donegal and Kildare clashed in the second round of matches in this year’s Ladies National Football League in Letterkenny this afternoon.
Kildare’s Roisin Byrne was the star of the show, scoring the first point of the game just moments into the match.
A quickfire response from Donegal saw Katy Herron score from a free, before Katie Dowds scored a goal just after the 10 minute mark to fire Donegal into the lead.
Kildare’s Neasa Dooley and Roisin Byrne responded with three points in a row to draw level once again, with both teams trading scores before a point from Donegal’s Shannon McLaughin gave them the slight advantage at the break, 1-03 to 0-05.
Kildare continued their positive momentum in the second half, with Erin Brereton Foley getting a point before they converted another free to take the lead.
Donegal were able to equalise briefly, before a Roisin Byrne goal snatched the lead back for Kildare late in the game.
Kildare added another point to seal the comeback win, a brilliant Roisin Byrne performance saw her match total of 1-05 outscore Donegal’s 1-04 all on her own.
The defeat now makes it one win and one loss for the Donegal Ladies in Division 2 so far this season, with their next fixture coming up against Westmeath.
