The home of the late Ian Bailey has been searched by Gardaí, as they continue investigations into the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier.
Gardaí seized a multitude of Bailey’s personal items from his flat in Bantry, County Cork, as they continue work on the cold case.
It’s believed that amongst these personal possessions including electronic devices and notebooks, a number of items were seized in order to build a DNA profile of Bailey.
Sophie Toscan du Plantier was murdered outside her holiday home in County Cork in December of 1996, and the recently deceased Bailey has been the prime suspect for many years in the case – even though no formal charges were ever brought against the journalist when he was alive.
Mr Bailey always strongly denied the allegations.
