The volunteer Donegal Mountain Rescue Team (DMRT) is currently seeking experienced new recruits to help them continue their vital service.
They have had a very busy 2024 so far, in the first 13 days of the year they had five callouts that brought them to Muckish, Errigal and Lough Salt. Last year, they also saw a big increase in callouts to Sliabh Liag.
“Our county is vast and as we enter a new year we are looking to expand our team,” a DMRT spokesperson said.
“We train regularly and thoroughly in many areas including rope work, casualty care, first aid, navigation and stretcher management to name a few.
“We remain on top of our game so as to be as prepared as we can be, should members of the public need our help.
“We now need more volunteers to join our team and help us maintain this vital service.
“We are 100% voluntary and predominantly rely on fundraising and donations from the public. We are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for 365 days a year.”
