Around 2,500 homes and businesses in Donegal remain without power following the destruction of Storm Isha and Storm Jocelyn.
Some properties may remain in the dark until tomorrow, Thursday, according to the latest update from ESB Networks.
The main areas affected include Newtowncunningham, Carndonagh, Milford, Moville, Bundoran, and Dungloe.
ESB Networks has deployed all available resources, including crews and partner contractors from less impacted areas, to expedite power restoration efforts.
A statement said: “We apologise for the disruption to family and commercial life this causes, and thank customers across the county, especially those who were without power again overnight, for their patience as our crews work to safely restore power.”
Real-time status on power restoration is being updated regularly and is available on www.PowerCheck.ie and www.ESBNetworks.ie.
The ESB said 13,000 customers around the country lost power during Storm Jocelyn overnight, with around 16,000 still impacted by Storm Isha, which hit Ireland on Sunday.
Speaking on RTÉ’s Morning Ireland, Brian Tapley from ESB Networks said the northwest was again the worst impacted and that it will be a number of days before all customers are reconnected.
Clean-up operations, which had been suspended yesterday due to Storm Jocelyn, resumed this morning.
Efforts to restore water supplies to around 5,000 Irish premises, which have been without water since Storm Isha, will also continue.
Uisce Éireann Head of Water Operations Margaret Attridge said reservoirs have run low due to power outages over the last few days and this will result in a number of customers on different schemes being put on restricted usage.
In addition, the two storms were preceded by freezing ground conditions which froze water in the pipes and caused ground movement and leaks have emerged as a result, she said.
