The weekend saw action return to cross country with the Donegal Short Course Cross Country Championships in Carndonagh.
A big thanks to those who made the journey despite the conditions. There were some very impressive results and the orange vests were to the fore in all races we had athletes. There were medal performances with Enya Logue and Odhran Rodgers taking gold medals, silver medal for Eli Duffy and a bronze medal performance for Sarah Minnock. The wet conditions did not put anybody off and well done to Inishowen AC who hosted this excellent event. U9 girls: Sarah Minnock 3rd. U9 Boys: Odhran McGinley 6th, Rian McGinley 14th. U11 Girls: Enya Logue 1st, Rosie Breslin 5th, Robyn Duffy 9th. U13 Girls: Aileen Logue 4th. U13 Boys: Eli Duffy 2nd. U15 Boys: Odhran Rodgers 1st.
In the senior and masters relays event the decision was made to run the men and women’s races together and our ladies had Lorraine Doherty first out taking the 600 metre leg and setting the team up well, Martina Mulhern was next powering around the first of the 1200m legs giving our ladies the lead. Bernie Boyle took the longest leg of 1800m extending the lead with a fine run giving Selina O Donnell a nice lead which she did not concede , holding on strongly . The Ladies taking masters gold. In the men’s Race Manus McHugh was quick out of the traps for the first leg , Declan Gallagher who is at home in such conditions put the head down and ran hard with the hard battling Patrick Trimble taking the long leg setting up David McKelvey to power home and secure the Rosses team silver from Finn Valley who took gold and Inishowen taking the bronze.
