More than 25,000 ESB customers across Donegal are still without power this morning, ESB Networks has confirmed to Donegal Daily.
And the worrying news is that it could be days before all are restored to the grid.
The main areas where customers remain without power include Moville (approx. 16,000 customers), Carndonagh (approx. 1,900 customers), Milford (approx. 1,400 customers), Stranorlar (approx. 1,400 customers) and other parts of the county such as Cullion, Buncrana and Ballyshannon.
An ESB spokesperson said “As of this morning, approximately 25,000 customers remain without power across Donegal as the entire county was badly hit following the Status Red level winds associated with Storm Isha and also, damage caused by lightning.
“All available ESB Networks resources, along with our partner contractors, worked into the night and mobilised again at first light this morning to safely restore power to as many customers as possible.
“However, due to the scale of the damage to the electricity network, many customers will be without power for a number of days.”
The spokesperson added that with Met Éireann giving a status Orange level wind warning for the county associated with Storm Jocelyn, this may hamper restoration efforts later today.
“We apologise for the disruption to family and commercial life this causes, and thank customers across the county, especially those who were without power overnight, for their patience as our crews work to safely restore power.”
Real-time status on power restoration is being updated regularly and is available on www.PowerCheck.ie and www.ESBNetworks.ie.
