Two men arrested following the armed robbery of a shop in Rathmullan have been released without charge.
Their arrests followed an incident a premises on Pound Street in the coastal village at 7pm on Thursday evening.
One man entered the premises armed with a knife and threatened staff.
No persons were injured during the incident and the man left the scene with a large sum of money.
In a follow up search, Gardaí arrested two men (both aged in their 20s) and recovered the money and weapon.
The men were questioned under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a local Garda station.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed to Donegal Daily “The two persons arrested in connection with this incident were released yesterday without charge pending file to the Director of Public Prosecutions.”
