A local councillor is urging Donegal County Council to relocate traffic lights signage at Lennon View in Ramelton, claiming that the existing signage is failing to warn drivers to slow down.
Councillor Pauric McGarvey tabled a motion at the January meeting of the Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District, calling for the signs to be moved to a location before the bend in the road.
Cllr McGarvey warned that ’someone will get cut in two’ on this stretch of road, which he compared to a ‘race track’.
“It is like a race track coming around the corner,” Cllr McGarvey said. “The traffic lights sign hits you and then the lights. Someone will get cut in two.
“This area of road is increasingly busy during summer months and the signage should be before the corner highlighting the traffic lights ahead.”
Cllr McGarvey also pointed out that the lining on the road has been worn and should be reviewed.
Councillor McGarvey said his concerns are ‘urgent’ and his motion was seconded by Councillor Liam Blaney, who echoed his concerns.
Donegal County Council has said that it will review the signage and make any amendments that are necessary.
