Donegal County Council has been asked to do more to direct visitors to the scenic Lennon River Waterfall in Ramelton, known as the ‘Salmon Leap’.
Cllr Pauric McGarvey has said he believes the site should be a tourist attraction, whereas currently, it’s a hidden gem.
“This waterfall is somewhere I went as a child, and I take my own children now,” Cllr McGarvey told this week’s sitting of the Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District.
Cllr McGarvey said signs would make the waterfall a tourist attraction and promote Ramelton overall, adding that visitors could spend a good hour exploring the area and its walkways.
“I think Donegal County Council should take this on board and make it as popular as any other waterfall around the country.”
In response, the local authority said that an assessment will be carried out to establish the signage required. An application will then be prepared for tourism funding.
