Well over 100,000 public sector workers are on strike today in Northern Ireland.
Teachers, doctors, nurses, bus and train drivers and civil servants are all striking today, calling for better pay and conditions.
Stormont has not had an executive since 2022 – meaning that planned public sector pay rises have not been implemented.
Workers have been hammered by inflation and cost of living increases, with an over £3 billion pay package offered by the Government in Westminster unable to be handed out until Stormont has an Executive again.
The widespread industrial action has seen the vast majority of public services in Northern Ireland come to a halt – including gritter drivers, meaning that some major roads in the North have not been treated today despite the icy and wintry conditions.
