Motorists are being warned to avoid all unnecessary travel within Letterkenny tonight due to heavy snow.
Compacted snow has left many routes in a treacherous condition and impassable.
Numerous incidents have been reported of vehicles becoming stuck in the snow and drivers losing control of their cars.
“Please avoid travelling to or within the town until conditions improve. Please stay safe,” gardaí say.
