Steer Housing Association (SHA) is now seeking expressions of interest for the roles of Company Directors.
SHA is an approved Housing Body, one of over 500 in Ireland, based in Letterkenny and currently manages 216 properties across 9 counties.
We are a not for profit organisation that provides general housing needs for people who are on local authority housing lists.
The role of the Directors of the SHA is a voluntary one, primarily to oversee the effective governance, financial management, compliance with HA standards and overall management of SHAs’ in accordance with the legal framework as set out in the Housing Act 2019. Current board members comprise across a range of professions; legal, finance, business and business related.
There is a changing and rigorous regulatory environment for all Housing Associations.
We are now trying to strengthen the board membership, though not exclusively with skills and backgrounds in:
- Governance
- Finance
- Property & Housing Management
- Risk Appraisal & Risk Management
Board meetings are held once every two months with management information circulated in advance by the CEO.
Expressions of Interest are sought from anyone (over 18) who has an interest in the social housing sector, who has experience of participating on Boards, has a willingness to advocate for the charity and who feel they have something to contribute in relation to good governance and compliance, should contact HR@steerhousing.com via email or by phone to Elizabeth Doherty, CEO on 086 1038973 by the Friday, 26th January 2024.
