Widespread snow has been forecast for Donegal tonight (Monday) as the Arctic air lingers.
Northern counties are in the grip of a cold plunge with temperatures due to drop to -3C to 0C overnight.
The amount of snowfall will vary in areas, but Met Eireann has issued a specific warning for Donegal residents.
“Scattered wintry showers will give way to more widespread sleet or snow for a time overnight with the potential for small accumulations,” said the status yellow snow/ice alert.
Donegal County Council gritters will treat all main routes from 5pm this evening and again from 6am on Tuesday morning.
Tomorrow will remain very cold. Tuesday will start cloudy tomorrow morning with outbreaks of rain and some further falls of sleet or snow. The rain will become patchier through the afternoon and evening with some sunny spells developing. Highs of 3 to 5 degrees.
