Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, has today announced almost €6.2 million in funding for community and sports facilities nationwide.
A number of Donegal clubs and groups will benefit from the funding.
The funding, under the 2023 CLÁR Programme, will support the delivery of 152 projects including astro-turf pitches, playgrounds, sensory gardens, walking tracks nature trails, outdoor performance spaces and community cafés.
The following are the Donegal clubs and groups to benefit:

Laghey Hall Development Committee CLG – Development of a sensory garden – €50,000
Lettermacaward Dev Group – Enhancement of accessible green space provision in Lettermacaward – €50,000
Coiste Forbartha Chnoc Fola – Fishing platforms – €50,000
Rathmullan Community Garden & Allotments – Development of a community garden and public allotments – €50,000
Details of funding to support over 100 sports clubs in rural communities under Measure 1 of the 2023 CLÁR Programme.
“This funding is being provided under the 2023 CLÁR Programme and is all about ensuring that some of our most rural communities benefit from projects that will make them more vibrant places to live, work and visit.
“So from astro-turf pitches, playgrounds and sensory gardens to walking tracks, nature trails, outdoor performance spaces and community cafés – these projects really will make a difference to the lives of people of all ages and abilities.
“This funding is on top of the €4.7 million that I announced in December, which focussed predominantly on supporting our GAA and other sports clubs.
“All of this investment is being delivered under our rural development policy, ‘Our Rural Future’, which is having a transformational impact right across Rural Ireland.”
