Met Éireann has issued a ‘moderate’ cold weather alert for Donegal and the rest of the country for the coming days.
It is valid from 11am today until 9am Saturday with night-time temperatures dropping to around -3C most nights.
The forecaster said sharp to severe frosts, icy patches and dense fog at times could lead to ‘hazardous’ travelling conditions.
Met Éireann meteorologist Deirdre Lowe said the next couple of days are expected to be “very cold”.
