Coast guard services were tasked to an emergency alert in the Murvagh area of Donegal yesterday evening.
A widespread search took place after a personal location beacon was activated in the area on Sunday at around 5pm. However, no one was found in need of assistance.
Killybegs Coast Guard and the Rescue 118 helicopter were tasked to the area in a search coordinated by Malin Head Coast Guard.
The Malin Head Coast Guard radio station also broadcasted messages over the VHF channels asking for any vessels in the inner Donegal bay area to contact them with any information regarding the PLB activation.
On the ground, Killybegs Coast Guard volunteers asked locals and people out walking Murvagh beach if they saw anything, while all piers and slipways were also checked.
“After two hours we concluded our search with nothing to report or found,” said a spokesperson for Killybegs Coast Guard.
“All assets returned to their respective stations.”
