The Irish Independent has reported that over 1,300 buildings in Donegal, that were built without planning permission, were allowed to remain by Donegal County Council.
The report shows a widespread trend across the country of county councils granting retentions for buildings that were constructed without prior planning permission being granted.
According to figures provided by the Irish Independent, a total of 1,319 retentions have been granted by Donegal County Council since 2019, with only 89 refusals granted.
