Today is a very special day for a remarkable Letterkenny woman, Chrissy McCauley, who is celebrating her 90th birthday!

Christina, who was born in Fanad in 1933, has been a much-respected member of the Letterkenny community for many years. She worked as a housekeeper for the Rainey family and it was there that she met John McCauley, a local farmer.

Who would have thought that sourcing potatoes and eggs would lead to a soulmate? That’s what happened Chrissy and John, and the couple tied the knot on 25th June 1957 and went on to have a large family.

Chrissy is the proud mother of eight children, eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and even one great-great-grandchild!

Chrissy lives in Letterkenny, where the kettle is always on for friends and family alike.

Wishing you a wonderful birthday, Christina and a very Happy New Year.

Happy Birthday Christina McCauley
