Management at Letterkenny University Hospital is urging anyone who is feeling unwell not to visit patients in the hospital, due to high rates of respiratory illnesses in the community.
Saolta say that staff are currently managing 9 different outbreaks of respiatory illnesses such as Covid, Flu and RSV on the hospital’s wards.
They are asking anyone with respiratory symptoms to avoid visiting patients in the hospital at this time to try and curb the spread of such illnesses.
Anyone visiting the hospital will now also be required to wear a face mask as they tackle the spread of respiratory illnesses.
Sean Murphy, Hospital Manager at LUH said, “We are seeing very high levels of respiratory viruses including flu, COVID-19 and RSV circulating in the community. We are asking the public to be mindful of the safety of our vulnerable patients and do not visit the hospital if you have a cough, cold, temperature, runny nose or sneezing. Anyone coming to the hospital is asked please wear a face mask and use hand gel regularly. Masks are available throughout the hospital.”
