If you’re looking for a movie to watch over the holidays, perhaps Follow the Dead could tickle your fancy!
The award winning Irish dark comedy zombie feature film was released on streaming services just in time for the festive season.
The plot is far from festive, but the film boasts some great Donegal actors.
Aidan O’Sullivan from Letterkenny and Marybeth Herron from Ardara both have exciting roles in the production. Aiden plays a Garda, with Marybeth playing Olivia Whelan, the sister of the protagonist.
Speaking about her part, Marybeth said: “This was a huge step for me because I have always wanted to do acting since I was a kid and I’d never allowed myself to do it. I’ve always told myself that there are better people more suited to this than me and maybe I’m too shy to do it.
“Even when I signed up to drama school I only went once or twice because I convinced myself I can’t do this.
“Taking this role, I was finally allowing myself to do what I wanted to do and just accept what people are saying to me about ‘you can do this and we can do it together’.”
Follow the Dead is about an apocalypse that takes place in Dublin city. Due to a media blackout, people outside of Dublin are confused over what happened in the capital. The film is a social commentary on millennials, as the characters wait for things to be done for them, leading to things ‘getting messy’.
Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, Tubi, YouTube Movies, Google Play, or Vudu to find the Irish film.
Follow the Dead is a Wild Stag Productions Ltd film, presented by Indie Rights Movies.
