Margaret Coyle, the local fundraiser of Letterkenny, has just completed her biggest Christmas draw yet, raising an amazing amount of €3,065.
This is Margaret’s best year ever in her 21 years of fundraising, with proceeds going to the Little Blue Heroes charity.
Margaret has put so much time and effort into these draws, but without the support of the local businesses, this would never be possible. This year, Margaret was lucky enough to collect donations from Simpson’s Supermarket, Spar Glencar, and the Shopping Centre. She was honoured to present Jack Beattie with a cheque for €3,065. Jack is a great character and this was a wonderful experience for Margaret.
Just when Margaret thought she had finished her charity work for the year, there was a bigger surprise in store for her. She was asked to be Mrs. Claus at the Tom Giblin Nativity/Christmas lights event. At first, Margaret was hesitant, but then she decided to give it a go. The evening was full of laughter and surrounded by families, children, and good friends. Being Mrs. Claus was never on her bucket list, but she was delighted to have done it.
“2023 will definitely be a year I won’t forget,” she said.
When asked about her plans for 2024, Margaret replied with enthusiasm that she will be raising funds for the Sheephaven Sub Aqua Club. This incredible wonder woman never sits down, and she is already planning to get those running shoes on and start training for the Dublin Marathon in 2024.
