Plans to build a new passenger berth at the small craft harbour of Killybegs have been welcomed.
The Department of the Marine is seeking to develop a “bespoke state-of-the-art” pontoon to accommodate passenger vessels at Killybegs Fishery Harbour Centre.
The development will also include additional small harbour berths adjacent to the passenger berth to supplement the existing small craft harbour located north of the Blackrock Pier.
A public notice by Marine Minister McConalogue states that he intends to apply for planning permission from Donegal County Council for the development, which will be situated between Mooney Boats and the BlackRock Pier.
Local councillor Niamh Kennedy has greeted the move as “more good news for Killybegs”.
Cllr Kennedy wrote: “This will allow additional berths as there is a long list of people looking to avail of the facilities and it will be a great addition to the new developments throughout the town including the new building at the BlackRock with additional parking.”
