A man who was arrested for drink-driving signed himself into hospital after the incident, a court has heard.
Michael Callow, 35, appeared at Letterkenny District Court after being stopped by Gardai at Feddyglass, Raphoe, on August 28th last.
The driver had come to Garda attention after he crossed over the white line.
A breath sample showed a reading of 78 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.
His solicitor, Mr Donough Cleary told the court that the incident has been a ‘catalyst’ for his client.
He said he immediately attended the hospital and that the computer programmer has been on disability benefit since.
Judge Alan Mitchell fined Callow, of Oak Country Manor in Derry, €200 and banned him from driving for three years.
