Setanta 1-08 v 6-26 Thomastown
Setanta’s run in the Intermediate Hurling Championship is over, after a hefty defeat at the hands of Thomastown of Kilkenny.
Ulster Intermediate Champions Setanta were always going to be underdogs heading into the clash at Pairc Esler in Newry, but still entered the game with hopes of causing an upset and reaching the All Ireland Intermediate final.
Thomastown imposed their dominance early and often, notching up an impressive 5-14 in the first half alone and leaving no doubt as to their class.
Setanta can still hold their heads high after their successes in becoming Ulster Intermediate Champions this year, but were comfortably outclassed by their Kilkenny opponents today.
