A fundraising campaign has been launched for a Letterkenny couple who have been left homeless for Christmas after a fire ripped through their home.
Ray and Karen Seagrave were left heartbroken when a blaze left their home at Long Lane badly damaged on December 3rd last.
Thankfully, the popular couple had their home insured but it will be many months before they are able to return.
In between and in the short-term they will face the headache and cost of rebuilding their lives.
Now the couple’s friend and well-known Letterkenny man Pauric Gallen has started a Go Fund Me page to help raise some much-needed cash to help with clothing, sealing the roof and appointing an assessor.
The couple are well-known in the area and heavily involved in the local community.
Indeed, the day before the fire Ray took part in a sponsored headshave helping to raise more than €6,000 for many Letterkenny charities.
Pauric said it would be great to be able to give something back to the couple.
He said “We all know what a long and difficult road lies ahead. Everything from re-clothing themselves to covering the gapping hole that sits where their roof used to be.
“Their home and dreams are gutted. This fundraiser is asking the kind communities of Letterkenny, Donegal and further afield to help bridge the gap between what insurance covers and the endless list that it won’t.
“Many expenses face the Seagraves as they venture into 2024 without a home. I’m asking the kind people of our community to give what you can to help ease the burden, and to let Karen and Ray know we care.”
