A local bus driver has been credited for their quick handling following a near-miss accident outside Muff.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening on the Racecourse Road approaching Muff.
A local coach company driver was travelling towards the town when a low-hanging branch suddenly obstructed the route. However, another vehicle was approaching from the other direction, giving the driver no option but to pull in.
The impact smashed the coach windscreen, but the driver maintained control of the bus.
“The driver deserves great credit,” said Cllr Terry Crossan. “When you get an unexpected bang like that, it takes an experienced driver to keep control.”
Cllr Crossan has praised Donegal County Council for acting promptly on the hazard yesterday evening.
Due to the dark conditions and the amount of traffic on the road, the area was coned off as a warning to drivers until such time it was safe to cut the branch down.
“I have to commend the council for acting on it so quickly,” said Cllr Crossan.
