Scoil Gheimhridh Ghaoth Dobhair, Donegal is the place to be!

The festival will be opened on Wednesday, December 27th by local MasterChef, singer and musician, Brian Danny Minnie Ó Domhnaill, and will feature performances by local young musicians An Crann Óg and Ó Glúin Go Ghlúin from Belfast. The night will end with a giant welcoming session, all of which is free entry, so everyone is welcome!
Located in the breath-taking Gaeltacht region of North-West Donegal, Gaoth Dobhair will see a series of events with performances by renowned artists such as Ye Vagabonds, Bláth na hÓige, Lillis Ó Laoire, Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin, and many more.
The festival will also include session trails for all levels, album launches, and workshops in music, song, and dance from some of the best performers. And don’t forget about the Annual New Year’s Eve Hooley, featuring the incredible Bonny Men, which will take place in Gaoth Dobhair’s stunning new premises, The Social.
If you’re interested in learning traditional Irish instruments, song, or dance, workshops will be held from December 28th to December 31st at Pobalscoil Ghaoth Dobhair, Na Doirí Beaga. The workshops will be led by some of the most respected musicians in the country, including acclaimed Uilleann Piper Maitiú Ó Casaide of the Bonny Men, Concertina players Lorraine O’Brien & Caitlín Nic Gabhann, Fiddlers Clare Friel of Altan, and Ciarán ó Maonaigh, Méabh Ní Bheaglaoich on accordion, Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin on flute, sean-nós dancing with Edwina Guckian plus many more. Mairead Ní Mhaonaigh of Altan will also be leading a singing workshop, but it’s already sold out.

This year’s festival will be held at Pobalscoil Ghaoth Dobhair, Amharclann Ghaoth Dobhair, The Social Venue, and Teach Hiúdaí Beag.
