There were sombre scenes at a ceremony commemorating the first anniversary of the passing of Private Sean Rooney today.
He was killed in action on a UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon last year.
Members of his family, as well as members from the Irish United Nations Veterans Association, were in Newtowncunningham to commemorate his passing.
A wreath was laid on his grave at the All Saints Church in the town in his honour.
