Gardaí in Donegal have warned of several roads that are currently flooded or partially flooded in the county as Storm Elin is now well underway.
An orange wind warning and a yellow rain warning are in effect for the county today as the storm batters the north-west and other parts of the country.
On social media, Gardaí said that there is currently flooding in parts of the Ballyliffin to Carndonagh road, and also at “The Mullins” on the Carndonagh to Quigley’s Point road.
They have advised the public to turn back if possible, if the road ahead appears to be flooded. Gardaí advise that if the road appears to only be partially flooded, to slowly pass through the affected area, staying on the part of the road that remains visible where possible, to pass through one car at a time, and also to drive slow’y and tap the brakes after exiting the water to dry them out.
Anyone travelling on the roads today has been asked to take extra care and to only travel if necessary today.
