A man has pleaded guilty to the sexual assault of a woman in a licensed premises in Donegal Town.

Quentin Park, aged 43 and of Newtownhamilton, Newry, County Down, appeared at Donegal Circuit Court this week.

Park is charged over an incident at McCafferty’s Bar, The Diamond, Donegal Town, on October 3, 2021.

Park was formally arraigned before Judge John Aylmer.

He is charged that he did sexually assault a female person. The charge is contrary to Section 2 of the Criminal Law (Rape) (Amendment) Act 1990, as amended by Section 37 of the Sex Offenders Act 2001.

Park spoke only to plead guilty to the charge.

Barrister for Park, Mr Sean McGee BL, instructed by solicitor Mr Michael Cunningham, applied for sentencing to be adjourned until the next term of Donegal Circuit Court in March, 2024.

Mr McGee said his client, who has no previous convictions, is a married father-of-three who is currently working.

“Given the nature of the offence and the circumstances, the court might benefit from a report,” Mr McGee said.

Judge Aylmer requested the preparation of a probation report, to include suitability for community service. Judge Aylmer adjourned the case until March, 2024.
