Former footballer Paddy McCourt has been cleared of a charge of sexual assault.
The 40-year-old, who also played for Celtic, Derry City, Barnsley, Brighton & Hove Albion and Finn Harps in his career, appealed against a conviction in relation to an incident that occurred on January 30, 2022.
McCourt, a father of three, of Wheatfield Court, Muff, Co Donegal, was convicted in May of one count of sexual assault after being accused of touching a woman’s bottom in a bar in Derry.
His appeal was granted after the prosecution offered no evidence that McCourt carried out the assault.
