An Irish mother-of-three has died after traveling for weight loss surgery in Turkey.
The woman, who is a nurse, is understood to have died suddenly on Thursday last.
She had traveled abroad for weight loss treatment.
THe exact cause of her death has not yet been established and her identity has not been released.
The Department of Foreign Affairs said it is aware of the case and is ready to provide consular assistance.
At least three Irish women have already died this year following bariatric surgery in Turkey.
The Department previously advised people to check with their own GPs before seeking out procedures overseas.
“Individuals should seek to inform themselves of both the risks and benefits of any procedures, and are advised to discuss their plans carefully with their own doctor, dentist or hospital specialist before committing to any procedure abroad,” it said in a statement.
