A local councillor has called for TWO speed detection vans to be located on the Ballyshannon/Bundoran bypass at weekends.
Cllr Michael McMahon made the plea at last week’s monthly sitting of the Joint Policing Committee (JPC).
The Sinn Fein representative said speeding is a ‘huge problem’ in both south Donegal towns.
“Maybe we could have two speed vans on the Bundoran/Ballyshannon bypass at weekends,” Cllr McMahon said.
“Speeding is also a huge issue in local car parks and fair play to Gardai for catching some of them.”
But, he warned, the issue appears to be getting worse.
“We need to look at new tactics. The Belleek to Bundoran is very bad and also the Ballyshannon to Bundoran road. We need either extra speed vans or more garda patrols.”
